People always ask me what law school is really like day to day. Here's the honest, unfiltered answer.
7:00 AM — The Early Start
My alarm goes off and I immediately reach for coffee. I review my notes from yesterday's reading while eating breakfast. The morning is my most productive time, so I try to get through the densest material before class.
9:00 AM — Classes Begin
Three hours of lectures. Cold calls are real — the professor can call on anyone at any time. I've learned to always be prepared, because the one day you skim the reading is the day you get called on.
12:00 PM — Lunch and Networking
Lunch isn't just about food. It's often when student organizations host guest speakers, panel discussions, or networking events. I try to attend at least one per week.
2:00 PM — Study Group
Four of us meet to work through practice hypo fact patterns. These sessions are where the real learning happens — explaining concepts to each other forces you to actually understand them.
6:00 PM — Dinner and Decompress
I step away from the books. A walk, a workout, or dinner with friends. You can't run on empty, and burnout is real.
8:00 PM — Reading for Tomorrow
Back to the books. I brief cases and outline the next day's readings. This usually takes 2-3 hours.
11:00 PM — Wind Down
I review my notes one last time, organize my schedule for the next day, and try to get some sleep. Tomorrow, we do it all again.
It's intense, but I wouldn't trade it. Every day is a step closer to becoming the lawyer I want to be.
